Youth Groups

Flocknote Escape LogoIt's tempting to think, "My kid is just too busy to attend youth group." And, yes, shuttling a teen to all their activities is hard on parents--but teenagers need models, mentors, community and mission to grow into followers of Jesus. We are happy to come along side parents of youth in grades 6-8 to help their teens explore and grow in Catholic spiritual development through good friends and wholesome activities.

Groups for Women

Womens Ministry Pictures 2022Baptism and Mass involvement are evidence that you are a Christian in the first place but participation with a parish women's group helps brings a daily life practicality to the choice to be a disciple of Christ.

God has given you abilities and talents intended to be expressions of your faith life. If you're not participating, others are being deprived of what you have to offer! Gathering with other women is an encouragement to all and the resulting friendships are life-long!

Cwc 0009 Rev SqThe Catholic Women's Club (CWC) was founded in the fall of 2000 and serves OLG by fundraising to purchase things like the parish Easter candle, priests’ and deacon’s vestments, altar cloths, altar server robes, and basic items needed in the Parish Center. The CWC is open to all women in our parish.

The CWC also makes donations to OLG ministries such as the school, Religious Education, Prayer Quilt Ministry, Food Pantry, four to five diocesan organizations and contributed to the purchase of the parish ossuary.

We meet regularly on the third Tuesday of most months in the Parish Center, beginning at 9:15 am with refreshments.

What is Walking with Purpose?

Wwp Sq 2Walking with Purpose is a women’s bible study for all ages (20-70+ years), all stages of life, and all levels of faith. The different studies are discussed in small groups at your level of comfort. The bible studies are different than any other bible study you’ve attended before! The studies include present, practical bible teachings consistent with Church doctrine, vary in length and depth to meet the needs of different women, and utilize the Catechism of the Catholic Church as an additional resource.

Why join?

To be supported by other women of faith during good times, challenges, or to gain connections with others. To increase your "you" time with God or to learn more about the Bible.

When do we meet?

We are happy to announce that we will have both morning and evening sessions this year!

Morning sessions begin Wed, Oct 5, at 9:30 am meeting in Lauerman Hall East. Evening sessions start Thu, Oct 6  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm and meet in Lauerman Hall Front.

For more information use our Contact Us form and select "Walking With Purpose Bible Study" or call the parish office at (619) 469-0133 to request a contact phone number.

Groups for Men

Groups For MenSitting around with a bunch of guys talking about faith might not be appealing -- at first -- but being part of a parish men’s group will surround you with guys who are constantly challenging themselves to be better, stronger, and more in control of their lives.

Join in the search for solutions to become the son, brother, husband, friend, Christian -- and man -- that you want to be.

Jesus Sermon MountOLG Men for Christ is a small group fellowship which meets for the purpose of growing in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ through a Scriptural understanding of our Lord’s call to discipleship and sonship in Him.

We study and discuss the Scriptures in a desire to become all that our Heavenly Father created us to be in our life, our family, and in the world.

Through the joy of praising God we welcome the gifts of the Holy Spirit to minister and lead us into deeper commitment to our Heavenly Father.

Recognizing God’s power to transform us we pray as a group for the Lord’s will to be done in our lives and in the world. The group meets in the Children's Chapel in the church on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. To learn more about this group please use the Contact Us form and choose "Men for Christ."

Cursillo Logo 239x250The Cursillo Movement is an apostolic movement that is 50 years strong!  Its name comes from the Spanish word “Cursillo” which means "small course."

The goal of Cursillo is to provide experiences to help active Catholics who want to take their faith to the next level, to discover and better live what is fundamental in Christianity and to share the essence of Christianity with others. Experiences include retreats, small groups and larger gatherings (called Ultreyas).

Ultreya potluck gatherings usually take place the first Sunday of every month at 5:30 pm in the home of members, but due to COVID-19 these have been postponed until further notice. Zoom meetings are taking place from time to time. If you are interested in learning more please use the Contact Us form and select "Deacon John Sawaya."
