Prayer Quilt Ministry
2766 Navajo Road
El Cajon, CA 92020
We are a group of quilters, hand sewers and non-quilters.You do not need to know how to sew but if you would like to, we can teach you how. We are part of a bigger organization called Prayers & Squares; we are chapter 429.
There are many stages in the making of a quilt. Quilt top “kits” are available for quilters to take and complete at home. The completed tops are brought back to the workshop, which is scheduled twice a month, on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays at 9 a.m. at Lauerman Hall.  These are then layered, bindings sewn on and then taken home to have the “handwork” completed.

Our primary purpose is to foster prayer through the making of these quilts and then reaching out to the sick and those in need of prayers by way of a prayer quilt. After being requested, these quilts are blessed at Mass and the Parishioners are invited to tie a double knot while saying a quick prayer for the person the quilt is going to.

This is a gift of love that is given without charge. This Ministry at OLG was started in March, 2006.  The motivation to continue this prayer-driven Ministry comes from  the amazing responses of healing, peace & comfort that we get back from the recipients.Come and join us - we are always in need of volunteers.  For more information contact Nettie at 619-251-2214 or at
